Newly appointed Executive Director, Camille Silverman

Riverside Arts Center (RAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Camille Silverman to the position of Executive Director. Prior to joining RAC, Silverman served as Executive Director of Western Colorado Center for the Arts in Grand Junction, Colorado.

“I am very impressed with the RAC’s commitment to top-notch programs for the Riverside community as well as the greater Chicago area. RAC’s reach in both exhibitions and education are important to so many, and will continue to grow and evolve as it moves into its 25th year of operation.”

Silverman’s immediate goals include the launch of a membership drive leading up to RAC’s 25-year anniversary, and an expansion of the educational programs offered by RAC throughout the community. Ms. Silverman will also focus on securing additional funding for the Freeark Gallery and Sculpture Garden’s exhibitions and public programs, so that the Gallery can expand the number of exhibition catalogues it publishes annually and increase its programmatic offerings.

RAC Board President Bob Finn adds: “Camille (Silverman) comes to us with some great experience. I look forward to Camille assisting with all areas of RAC administration. She will help further develop the school program and guide us as we look to expand our presence in the surrounding communities.”

Silverman received her MFA in painting from Cranbrook Art Academy. In 2010 she created the Art Stalk column for the Free Press in Western Colorado, and held an adjunct position at Mesa State College, now Colorado Mesa University. She will be holding a number of “Meet and Greet” events during the spring and summer, with details to be posted on Facebook and at www.riversideartscenter.com. On May Day, Monday, May 1, there will be a Figure Drawing with the Executive Director event in the RAC sculpture garden from 6pm to 8pm. A figure model and drawing materials will be provided for everyone who attends.
