Be prepared to get creative! Each day during camp, students will explore a wide variety of projects in materials such as clay, fibers, collage, sculpture, paint, chalk, mosaics, and much, much, more! Kids are grouped into appropriate age levels and will be encouraged to think outside the box and be creative! Ages 5+

June 12 – August 18

[No camp week of July 3 – July 7]
All camps run from 8:00 – 4:30 pm

$200 for Half Day Camp [non-member]

Must sign up for a full week (5 consecutive days) to get special pricing.

FULL DAY:
FIRST CHILD: $90/day [members]  /  $100/day [non-members]

HALF DAY:
Morning Session: 8:00-12:00,  Afternoon Session: 12:30-4:30

Must have one child signed up at the First Child Rate in order to receive Sibling Rate.
Don’t forget to bring a snack & drink, and dress for the mess. Students attending full days will need to bring a lunch.

Side Show Art with Heather Hug

Come one, come all and see these fabulous freaks under the Big Top. In this class we will explore the phenomenon of the side show and the amazing art posters this bizarre form of entertainment generated. Students will review a brief history of the carnival or circus side show and the types of fantastic acts that were featured, real and fictional. Students will create their own side show character, write a personal history or story for it, design a poster for their character’s performance, and then sculpt their creature three-dimensionally in clay. [3 weeks]

Intermediate Studio – Theresa Paris

Intermediate studio is designed to prepare students for more advanced art classes down the road. Preparation will involve building a technical understanding of various mediums and methods of application. We will also focus on developing a composition, making sure to enhance conceptual skills along with technical skills. Throughout this process, we will cover basic and more advanced principles of art and design.  Each class will end with a 10 min critique, where participants can receive feedback from their peers and be able to share new ideas. Students will be encouraged to use terminology related to the principles of art as a means to expand their vocabulary. Participants are welcome to bring images or objects to work from that they personally find interesting and meaningful. [5 weeks]

Students will venture into creative exploration as they design and create hand built works of art. Students will experiment with various painting, texture, and sculptural techniques on the items they create. Older students will get to explore clay further by way of guided projects and their own ideas that they can work on independently (of course, assistance is always provided when needed!).

This open studio is great for the beginner who is looking for just the right amount of guidance, as well as a fun, supportive environment for the more advanced artist.

This is the perfect environment to get started experimenting with several mediums, or take direction in the medium of your choice. Try out one class or sign up for the whole session! Drawing and Pastel materials are provided; artists must supply their own paints, brushes, thinner, etc.
